Pay Close Attention To This!!! <=

The information contained in this document is intended for the sole use of Canadian Challenger owners and is strictly proprietary and confidential.

Transport Canada is VERY particular about spellings and formats of the manufacturer name, the model designation and the various data supplied. Follow our examples exactly! Also, the Serial Number entered on the various forms must use the exact same hyphenation that appears on your Bill Of Sale.

Never submit originals of irreplaceable documents like your Bill Of Sale or Statement Of Conformity. Keep copies of original forms you do submit.

You should thoroughly understand the requirements and privileges of the Basic and Advanced categories as well as the process for the issuance of the Statement Of Conformity necessary for registration in the Advanced category.
(See 'Canadian Regulations' in our Frequently Asked Questions section.)

In late 1999 Transport Canada changed to a new Statement Of Conformity.
This Statement Of Conformity represents that your Challenger is fit for flight as well as that it is assembled correctly and no design changes have been made.

Since late 1999 an inspection is required before the SOC can be signed on behalf of the manufacturer. This inspection must be performed by an authorized Challenger rep. You can NOT use an AME or an MDRA.

The SOC inspection, since it checks that the aircraft is fit for flight, must take place not far in advance of the first flight. This creates a certain time pressure in getting the registration paperwork through Transport Canada to avoid delays.

Our experience is that the folks at Transport are extremely helpful and will speed your application through the system if you give them what they need!

Last but not least, once your Challenger has been registered make sure it is in the category you intended. There are two cases known where the proper paperwork was submitted for an Advanced Ultralight but the plane ended up as a Basic. Use our link to the online Transport Canada Registration Database to check your status. If it is wrong just get in touch with Transport and they'll apologize profusely and fix things for you.
